Try This: Thanksgiving in a Jar

Thanksgiving is arguably the best holiday – it’s all about food, friends, family, and gratitude. Did we mention that it’s also about food? It’s not Thanksgiving without leftovers, so here’s a way to enjoy those Thanksgiving leftovers – in an oh-so-cute mason jar! Those gorgeous layers of colorful food in a jar are a lunchtime showstopper and a great alternative to the typical Thanksgiving leftover sandwich. These are easy to carry for lunch or as doggie bags for your guests! Here’s how to make it:
- Gather your classic Thanksgiving foods together – mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, turkey, green beans, gravy, and cranberry sauce.
- Line up your clean mason jars.
- And now for the most fun part… assembly! The trick here is to stack the different foods according to their density. Try putting the mashed potatoes on the bottom, then green beans, then turkey, then some sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, and top with mashed potatoes again. Pour some gravy over the top, and put on the lid!
- To heat these up, nuke the jar in the microwave, just make sure to take the lid off first!
Optional: Wrap a piece of twine with a name tag around the top of the jar to send home with your dinner guests!
